INTEL // DEVIL DINOSAUR
MARVEL RIVALS' PREHISTORIC POWERHOUSE
ORIGINS AND EVOLUTIONARY MUTATION
Devil Dinosaur debuted in 1978 (Devil Dinosaur #1), created by Jack Kirby. He originates from “Dinosaur World” on Earth-78411, a parallel reality where prehistoric creatures and primitive hominids coexist. Born with olive-green skin, he was attacked as a hatchling by the Killer-Folk tribe, who attempted to burn him alive. The intense heat triggered a unique mutation that turned his hide permanent crimson and unlocked cognitive abilities far beyond his species. He was rescued by Moon-Boy, a member of the Small-Folk tribe, establishing a lifelong bond that defined his early history.
HISTORY AND KEY PARTNERSHIPS
For decades, Devil Dinosaur and Moon-Boy protected their home world from threats like alien invasions and the persistent Killer-Folk. They eventually transitioned into the main Marvel continuity (Earth-616), primarily residing in the Savage Land. Following the death of Moon-Boy at the hands of the Killer-Folk, Devil Dinosaur formed a new, psychic bond with Lunella Lafayette, also known as Moon Girl. Lunella, a pre-teen super-genius, accidentally transported him to modern-day New York City through a Kree temporal vortex. This partnership integrated Devil Dinosaur into the modern superhero landscape, leading to his membership in teams such as the Pet Avengers and the Fallen Angels.
STRATEGIC TEAM-UPS
Devil Dinosaur has a documented history of collaboration with several prominent Marvel figures. He famously teamed up with Spider-Man in the Savage Land to combat the villain Brainchild and his mutated “Demon Dinosaurs.” He has also encountered the Hulk across various timelines, ranging from adversarial duels to temporary alliances. During the Secret Wars event, a version of Steve Rogers (Captain America) utilized Devil Dinosaur as a mount in battle. Additionally, he has fought alongside The Thing and Godzilla, and was once briefly hypnotized into joining the Circus of Crime before being liberated by local heroes.
POWERS AND COMBAT CAPABILITIES
As a “Devil-Beast,” his primary assets are superhuman strength and extreme durability, allowing him to withstand heavy artillery and physical trauma that would be fatal to a standard Tyrannosaurus Rex. His mutation granted him human-level reasoning and tactical intelligence, enabling him to set traps and coordinate with allies. His physical arsenal includes a powerful jaw bite, a massive tail used for sweeping strikes, and legs capable of leaping over 20 feet from a standing start. He also possesses a highly developed sense of smell, which he uses for tracking targets across vast distances.
MARVEL RIVALS DEBUT
Devil Dinosaur officially joins the roster as a Vanguard, serving as a massive front-line antagonist designed to dominate the center of battle. His kit revolves around raw physical disruption, featuring a primary bite that deals continuous bleed damage to wear down opponents. Most notably, his signature utility allows him to clamp and hold enemies in his jaws, effectively removing key targets from the fight for a duration. His prehistoric durability is further bolstered by a stomp that delivers heavy splash damage and a roar that functions as a powerful knockback to peel for his team. This combination of crowd control and persistent damage makes him a terrifying space-taker in any team composition, and The Hero Bureau can’t wait to field-test his "Devil-Beast" capabilities to see how fun and impactful he is going to be.
